Election Jitters- They're Starting

They're starting. About 2 weeks before most elections, my mind is consumed by thoughts of victory and defeat. In 2002, I thought about Jim Matheson at almost every waking moment. I didn't matter what I was doing--Jim was on my mind. It was quite annoying.

They're starting. Although a Kerry vote in Utah doesn't count (because of the antiquated Electoral College system which I'm against), Senator John Kerry is always on my mind. On the way to work today, during calls to customers, breaks, lunch, and even now, I can't get my mind off of our next President.

They're starting. I'm worried that Bush will be our president again. My Public answer is "John Kerry is going to win. No one who voted for Gore in 2000 will vote for Kerry. Plus, newly registered voters are registering because they want change--change for the better. Polls may show a close race, but those pollsters aren't asking young people who only have cellphones and newly registered voters. The polls are wrong and John Kerry will be our next President."

They're starting. At the Senior Expo on Saturday, someone asked if John Kerry is going to win. I let Megan answer, but Privately I thought, "The Bush campaign has been effective calling Kerry a flip-flopper. The polls are showing a tight race. Republicans are using dirty tactics to destroy and disenfranchise voters in swing states. Is the country really sick of Republicans being in charge?"

They're staring. And thankfully, they will only last 2 weeks. Then I'm getting drunk on Nov. 2.
