Friend Email

I sent this email to some friends that I don't see often enough. I hope they will take it to heart and email me back.

Dear Friend who I never see but want to keep in touch with you better than I have in the past,

I had an interesting time with a close friend last week that got me thinking. This person was upset because they thought I didn't like them because I never called them or asked them to do things. I told this person that it wasn't because I didn't like them; it was because I was so busy with things that I didn't make time for them. (Yes, it would have been easier to identify the gender but I didn't want to because I'm sending the email to this person).

So now I come to you asking for forgiveness. Something has been lacking in my life since the new year began and I think I figured out why: I don't see or talk to all the awesome people that I've come to know and become friends with in the past 21 years. I find myself alone on Friday and Saturday nights, relegated to playing video games or watching old episodes of the Golden Girls I've taped.

Please excuse this moment of self-reflection and if you think it's dumb, forgive me. Death has been on my mind in recent months and I wonder how terrible I would feel if I died knowing the last time I saw you was months ago. I know its a terrible thought, but it's the way I feel and I'm trying to remedy the situation. I know I've haven't seen some of you for weeks, others for months (or more embarrassingly, over a year).

So, if you miss me as much as I miss you, lets get together soon and do something, even if it's playing a game of Battleship (I have the game if you don't). Friday nights, Saturdays, and Sunday's after 11am are always good for me. I know most of you are busy with school and other things, but really, let's get together. Send me an email or call me so we can coordinate our schedules.

Thanks,
Jesse

PS: On a side note, I've been keeping a blog (or web journal for you non-techies) for the past 6 months. I put pictures, thoughts, and what I'm doing on it. A friend of mine has a great blog and I'm able to keep up with what he's doing by reading it. I hope you check my blog out and it can do the same for you: http://boyinsuit.blogspot.com
