Pretend that we're in Europe!

This morning at Church, Megan and I were "confirmed" as new members. We had to take a 3 week class learning about the history of the church, the structure of the church, and the beliefs (sorta like the missionary discussions). We had to stand in front of the church and say, "I do" and "I will" to various things that the Pastor asked. It was nice and I'm glad I'm now a member of record at the United Church of Christ.

After church, we decided to go to brunch. When I asked where we should go, they both said they did not care. I wanted to go to Sampan (Chinese food) so I started driving there. However, Brian and Megan changed their mind and voted on Ruth's Diner, a restaurant up in the mountains. I usually love Ruth's, but it was a cold day and I go to Ruth's for the atmosphere, not the food. They have a nice patio area and serve freshly made biscuits and raspberry jam. It's a great place in the summer, but not for today. Although I protested, they both wanted to go there. On the way, we stopped on the side of the road and took these pictures:

We pretended that we were in the Swiss Alps.

My Cute Boyfriend Brian

As we drove through the mountains and hills, we pretended that we were from England on a Sunday drive. It was really fun when Brian and I talked to each other in English accents. I always like when Brian is silly like that.

We got to Ruth's and the server sat us on the patio...and it was freezing!! It was so cold that Brian and Megan wanted to leave. I told them that I was fine and we could stay to eat--it was their choice to come. It only got colder so we decided that we should leave. The server had already brought us our drinks and said that she wasn't going to charge us for them. Brian left her a $12 tip for being so nice. I hope she remembers us when we go back on a warm day.

I was delighted that we had brunch at Sampan--not only because I really wanted it but because I was right about Ruth's being so cold.

Megan needed a picture for her campaign so we went to Liberty Park to take her picture. I had a great time trying to take her picture because she just kept laughing and laughing. I think it would be fun to be a photographer. Here's what we took:

Brian and I being weird.

This is the picture Megan will use in her campaign material.

After the park, we went home and Megan and I finished making her campaign buttons. Brian made spaghetti and we watched Stargate SG-1. Nathan came over later and we went to the Gateway to see Sahara. I really enjoyed the movie (mostly because I think Matthew McConaughey is hot!) and I hope they make more (since the story is a series of books).
