Almost Fired from my Job

I could have gotten fired for what I just did at work.

In customer service, you must always maintain a level of professionalism, especially with customers. However, when talking to co-workers, a person usually becomes more relaxed than normal.

Today, I went a little too far.

My co-worker Dan transferred a call to me. He said, "His name is Randy Ho."

Jesse, wanting to know the spelling and make a joke said: "Like the girl?"

Dan replied, "Um, this call is probably being recorded and you should say something like that."

I helped the customer and after the call, I started to worry. Sometimes, to check on quality, Intel executives listen randomly to some recorded calls. I worried that they would listen to this call, get really angry and fire me. Rather than take the chance, I talked to one of my supervisors and told her the story in a very serious manner. When I finished, she laughed and said I needed to talk to someone else.

I then went to another supervisor and told him; he laughed at what I said and told me it probably wasn't recorded so I'd be okay.

I was very dismayed--I thought I had done something terrible and was only laughed at by my supervisors. Being the revengeful person that I am, I went to the first supervisors computer and saw she was typing up an email. In her comments, I added, "I am retarded." A few minutes later, she asked for everyone's attention on the floor and asked, "Who wrote, 'I am retarded' in my email?"

I stood up and asked her what the person had written. She said, "I am retarded." I asked her one more time and she figured out it was me. We had a good laugh.
