Families are Forever
Aunt Wendy invited me my cousin Dawn's birthday dinner at a local Mexican restaurant. She said that she wanted to pay for my dinner and make it a graduation gift. Brian and I met Wendy (and my brother Russell) at her house and headed over to the restaurant.
I love my family. I love being with them because I know families are the one lasting thing in life. My family is filled with amazing people and I'm lucky to be a member.
After dinner, we went to have cake at Wendy's house. We sat in the backyard, watched the children play, blew bubbles, and just enjoyed the moment. The weather was perfect (just a bit cold) for this summer night. As I sat there, I realized that this is exactly what heaven will be like.
We stopped by Grandma's house so I could pick up my pastor's book and the 10 pounds of fortune cookies I left there. Russell, who is flying back to New York tonight, said goodbye and I made sure he hugged Grandma. I hope it's not the last time Russell sees her.
Russell's flight was at 11pm, and it was about 9:30pm when we left their house. On the way to the airport, I had a great time with Russell. We laughed together by remembering our childhoods and realizing how great we had it. I'm laughing as I type this now, but Russell is an amazing character who can always make me laugh. Brian thought we were weird, but that's only because he never had siblings.
My family is amazing and I thank God everyday that I have them...it will be hard when I lose one.
