Jefferson Jackson Dinner
Tonight was the Jefferson Jackson Dinner, an annual fundraiser for Democrats, and I was able to bring my parents and introduce them to people I've worked with. My cousin Allison was there which was really cool; I'm glad she's getting more involved. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) spoke about how Republicans make up myths about Democrats and try to make the American public believe them. Here's a link to a Deseret News article about the event.
Josh Moon sat at the same table as us (graciously provided by Salt Lake County Party Chair Megan Risbon) and asked me if my parents would be offended if he drank some wine. I laughed and told my parents; my Mom really liked Josh and thought it was very nice of him to have respect for them.
As Senator Reid spoke, he kept saying, "900 Democrats in this room" and I told my parents we should correct him and say "898 Democrats." After the Senator spoke, my mom said "I want to become a Democrat!" I wish she wasn't sarcastic when she said it! I'm glad my parents are fair-minded people that vote for both parties and aren't staunch partisans for the Republican Party.
