My Parents are Here
I took my last final today for my financial class. I felt that I did a pretty good job but I was just glad to be done with it. I'll probably make a B in the class because I didn't study too hard for anything.
My parents picked me up from work today and I was excited that they stopped by. They got to meet all my co-workers and let them see where I get my craziness from. My parents took me to lunch at a Salvadoran restaurant downtown.
One thing that stressed me out about my parents is that they did not come with any definite plans. They decided to "bend with the wind" in choosing to do things. It annoyed me because we spent about 30 minutes trying to decide to do something. Here's a picture of us deliberating:
We finally decided that Mom, Russell, and I would go to Sandy to run errands and Dad would go visit a friend of his. Mom's phone wasn't working so we went to the Verizon store in Sandy to ask a question. The manager helped us and gave my mom a sticker with important numbers on it. When we left, I looked at the sticker and realized that the sticker was in Spanish. I told my mom and we were both offended; this guy gave my mom a sticker in Spanish just because of the way she looked and talked. We went back into the store and my mom asked for a sticker in English. They guy then told us that they only had stickers in Spanish but he'd be more than happy to let us know what the Spanish meant. We walked out of that store in shame for assuming the worst.
We also stopped at the LDS Church distribution center. This is a specialized store where Mormons get their scriptures, pictures of church leaders, and their "special underwear." Because you have to go through a ceremony to get what are called garments, only specific people can buy these and the section of the store was closed off. Russell and I pretended there was an invisible barrier and we kept running into it, only to be refused entry by this imaginary wall (think the brig in Star Trek:TNG).
Russell finally got a haircut and we went back to Grandpa Nix's. I took my mom to get a manicure and pedicure for Mother's day and I spent the whole time with her. It was a good time to bond and to learn what a manicure and pedicure were--now I want to get them! Mom, Russell, Amy, Carly, Megan and I went to dinner at The Pie location in Sandy. We ordered two big pizzas and had a great time there. Afterwards, we all went to Amy's to hang out and watch Carly play.
It was about 11pm when we left to go home and Russell and I rocked to the Sister Act soundtrack on the way home. I had a blast with him! The soundtrack has a couple songs that are very "soundtracky," so Russell and I made up movie previews to the music. It was so much fun!
