Faith in SOME of my Utah Neighbors
Utah County is one of the most conservative counties in the United States, so you can realize my surprise in the recent Cedar Hills vote on alcohol sales and Sunday business closures. The vote divided the mostly Mormon town and I've read news stories that said some Mormons who supported the ban told non-supporting Mormons that they shouldn't be Mormon at all. While I think this was more the exception, my faith in my Utah neighbors was lifted when I read that Cedar Hills voted to keep alcohol sales and businesses open on Sunday.

While I'm glad that a tolerance for other people is appreciated in Cedar Hills, I was dismayed as I read that Utah gives President Bush his highest approval ratings in the nation! Utah citizens support President Bush by 63%, as opposed to Vermont, with only gives President Bush 32%. Results from all 50 states can be found here.
The moral of the story is that people in Utah are great people with a respect for others, even though they are conservative.
