It's the Most Wonderful Day of the Year

I had a fantastic birthday filled with terrific friends and an incredible boyfriend.

Earlier in the week I freaked out because I lost a $609 check (reimbursement money for Pride). I thought I had put it in my car, but I couldn't find it anywhere. This afternoon, I took work off to go shopping with Megan, but I first had to stop by to see Valerie to get another check. I hate looking stupid, but I felt really stupid when I told Valerie that I lost the check and I needed another one.

I felt even stupider when I was at Wells Fargo and I found my old check....in my bank account!! The check was deposited earlier in the week, but I totally forgot about it. When I called Valerie to tell her not to cancel the old check and explained the situation, she laughed.

After the "deposit," Megan and I went shopping at the Gateway mall. I felt kind of guilty going various stores and getting anything I wanted, justifying the purchase because it was my birthday (which makes no economic sense). I bought stuff at American Eagle, Aeropostale, Abercrombie and Fitch, Dick's, and PacSun and it felt so liberating to buy anything I wanted.

I had a realization today about my shopping habits: the only time I buy clothes the whole year is near my birthday. I spent about $175 on clothes and $50 on a tent (yes, a tent) today, and for the rest of the year I will probably at most get two shirts. Trying to justify clothing purchases when I already have lots of clothes is hard during the year....but not on my birthday!!

Brian told me to be home at 5:30pm, so I went home, took a shower and got ready for my hot date. He picked me up and we started driving south on I-15 to go out to dinner, but it was weird because I knew exactly where we were going and doing. I told Brian that I knew, but he didn't believe me, so I started giving him directions to the restaurant. I also said, "Do you know what would be fun? Miniature golfing and batting cages." He got mad at me for correctly guessing what we were doing, especially because he has never surprised me. I think I'm telepathic or something, but I seriously cannot be surprised by anything. Sure, when people try to surprise me I act surprised, but it is very hard to catch me off-guard.

I think what Brian had in mind tonight was just predictable. It was actually a date I took him on (same restaurant and activity) in our first year of dating. I've come to realize that I'm the more creative side of the relationship and I think that is why I wasn't upset about our date tonight.

We ended up eating at the restaurant I said we were going to, but we didn't go hit balls. Brian was to mad that I guessed correctly. We went to Bed, Bath, & Beyond to shop for down comforters, down pillows, and sheets. They were too expensive, so we went home and bought all those things online at Overstock.com. I love shopping online with Brian.

Then we went to bed and watched three episodes of Battlestar: Galactica. Overall, it was one of my better birthdays.

You forgot to mention that it was ME who remembered you had already deposited the money! How rude!
