My Birthday Party
Do you remember those birthday parties you went to as a child? There were fun games, a piñata, and you had to wear a party hat when you ate birthday cake. Well, it's about time that you went to another one! That's the invitation I sent to my family, friends, and co-workers to invite them to my oh-so-fabulous birthday party hosted by yours truly! I wanted to have a great birthday party and to ensure its success, I knew I had to host it myself because I would only have myself to blame for its success or failure.
I want you to be a part of this fun summer BBQ! I will provide hamburgers and hot dogs and I ask ya'll to bring the rest! We will eat great food, play fun games, and when it gets dark we will watch a movie on the lawn.
Let me get this out of the way before I talk about how fun the party was. It annoys immensely to RSVP for a party and then cancel at the last minute because of "work" or "I wanted to do something else" or not even show up and fail to call to let me know. Any cancellation of those sorts is incredibly rude and I find myself saying, "oh it's okay" when really I want to say, "You are being very rude." I can understand last-minute emergencies, but not something like work that can be scheduled in advance. I will get over it, but I was disappointed when people who I really wanted to see didn't come.
Now that that is over with, I had a great time at the party talking to friends, playing games, hitting a piñata, and watching a movie outside. Except for a few glitches, everything went as planned and I think everyone enjoyed the party. My biggest worry was that my gay friends, straight friends, and family would separate themselves from each other, but as far as I know that did not happen. I found out that one of my cousins called Shawn "gay," but I can't do anything about it now. If I would have known about the incident, I would have said something, but Brian didn't tell me until after the party had ended.
One of my favorite parts of the evening was when the projector screen was being used to play Halo 2. I played a little bit, but I was laying on a blanket and looking at the stars. Besides being one of my favorite things to do since I was like five, as I laid there I reflected on lots of things, especially turning 22. Every year around my birthday, I get weird and reflective. Brian hates it, but he should get over it because I will do it until I die.
