Please contact me as soon as possible regarding this incident.Wondering what the heck I had "done", I called Detective Bragg to get more information. After playing phone tag for 2 weeks, he called me today and gave me the information that I was looking for. Here is what took place:
Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely,
Detective R. Bragg
West Jordan Police Department

Hello, this is Jesse.

Hello, this is Detective Ron Bragg from the West Jordan Police department. It looks like we've been playing phone tag for the last couple of weeks.

Yes we have. What can I help you with today?

What kind of car do you drive? .

I drive a 1998 Maroon Honda Civic.

Well, we have an eyewitness that says you filled out your car with gas and then drove off without paying on June 15th at 5:30pm. The gas station was at 7200 South and Redwood Road.

Well, that could not have been me. I was at work until 6pm and I have my time sheet to prove that. I was probably helping a customer at that time.

Where do you work?

At Convergys at 4500 South and about 600 West.

Well, I have a timesheet too, but that doesn't prove that I am there. We have an eyewitness.

Okay. Well, what are my options?

I will let you just pay the $32 that was stolen.

I will hand the case over to the D.A. and he will either send you a summons or issue a warrant for your arrest.

Will he send a summons first?

Not necessarily. He can do either.

Can I call the D.A. before a warrant is issued?

No.

Okay, send my case to the D.A. I have more than enough evidence to prove my innocence.
I believe paying the $32 would be admitting guilt and I am not about to do that. I would rather pay $100 in court fees to be declared innocent than pay $32 and have anyone think I was guilty. My dad always said that he would never plead guilty if he were truly innocent and I will do the same.
I'm actually really interested in the process and I'm excited to see how this all folds out. I just hope that I won't be on a date with Brian and I get arrested in front of him because of a warrant. That would be embarrassing (but funny at the same time).
