Adventures in a Bookstore
While I didn't have a hang-over when I awoke, I was really tired and wanted to have a slow day.
I had to buy books for school, so Brian and I went to the University of Utah bookstore to get them. Ever semester, I make a spreadsheet comparing new and used books from the bookstore and various online retailers. That way, I'll know if I should pay the dollar more at the bookstore for a book because it's not worth paying for the shipping for a cheaper book from Amazon.
Brian became annoyed at me for the following reasons:
- I constantly compared the prices of the bookstore and my online retailers. Brian just wanted me to buy all my books at the bookstore.
- If I have to buy a used book, I want one that looks the least used. Therefore, I inspect the cover for marks, the pages for highlights, and make sure the books pages have not turned yellow with age. For one book I had to purchase, I went through 13 of them to find one I liked. Brian, who became my shopping cart, did not like my methodical (if anal) method of finding that perfect used book.
- I started looking at other books from other classes that I was interested in. Brian told me I wasn't in those classes and we needed to go.
- I saw an old friend, Melissa Gonzales, and started talking to her. Brian, who was already anxious to leave, was very nice during this time but was really ready to go.
- The whole time, I was wearing a light-blue shirt with my collar up with big sunglasses (similar to this) and Brian hates those sunglasses.
Brian also dropped me off near Megan's house where I picked up my car. I was really embarrassed because the house I parked in front of was having a yard sale and I knew I was severely hindering business. The lady glared at me as I got into my car and drove away. Oops!
