Customer Call: You'll get your password when you are a good boy!

When I asked the customer what I could help him with, he was obviously mad.

"I am trying to create a password, I am following the password rules, and it's not working!"

The customer tells me the password and it has a # sign in it.

"Sir," I explain, "Sometimes the # sign does not work. You should try using an exclamation point."

"No! I am following the rules and my password should work! It is your problem and you need to fix it."

"But sir, changing it to an exclamation point will be the easiest solution."

"I do not want the easiest solution! I want my password! I don't want to change it!"

I'm really annoyed at this point. It's an easy problem to solve, but this guy wants to make a big deal about it. I finally say, "Sir, you can choose to not change your password but that means you won't be able to get into the website. If you change your password, you will be able to log in today. Plus, the only way we can know for sure that you can't use the # sign is if the exclamation point works. If it doesn't, then we have a bigger problem."

"I just don't want another password to remember," he says.

I snidely reply, "You could always write it down."

"There are all kinds of things you can do."

"Yes there are..." I say. He finally changes his password and everything works. It's funny how when you call and ask for help, the person you are talking to usually knows how to fix the problem.
