Moving Russell and Eating with Chris
It was the first day of class for me since I missed the actual first day. I'm taking two classes this semester: International Relations of Africa and a senior seminar on globalization.
As opposed to Matt, I'm really disappointed in the lack of cute guys in my classes. That is actually one of the reasons I love college.... oh well. I have a wonderful boyfriend anyway.
But eye candy is always nice.
After class was finished, I drove Russell to Grandma Nix's house to pick up his stuff because he's goes back to BYU. There was a vase of flowers on the table and I asked Grandma why she had them since I knew she doesn't like flowers. She corrected me and said that she likes flowers, she just doesn't like people spending money on them.
I responded and told her that at her grave, we would put flowers on them and then take them when we left so we don't waste them. Russell said he would just steal flowers from another grave so he doesn't "waste" money on flowers. Grandma kept laughing and laughing, which is great because I love to see her laugh.
On the way to BYU, we stopped at Brian's Gamecrazy store. He was excited to see us and we hung out with him for about an hour. Russell traded in about 10 games for $40 and bought a game with his money.
Russell and I finally got to BYU and dropped off his stuff at his new place. Since we were moving heavy objects, I parked in a place that was only for hall advisors and you would get towed if you parked there. I chose to park there because I was moving things into an apartment.
As Russell and I walked back to the car, there were about 4 people standing around my car. I sarcastically said, "Do you all need a ride?"
A girl with a frown on her face said, "Um, you can't park here."
Jesse: I know. We were just moving stuff into an apartment.
Frowny: Well, you still can't park here. It's only for hall advisors.
Jesse: (looking at the sign that says the obvious) I know. Like I said, we were only here temporarily.
Frowny: You can't park here temporarily. The sign says "anytime." There aren't enough parking spaces for everyone.
Jesse: I understand. But thanks for letting us use the parking space!
I got into my car. I wasn't going to argue with someone as stupid as Frowny. I later realized this girl wasn't the hall advisor, just an annoying Molly Mormon that wanted to tell me what I already knew.
Russ and I met up with Chris Hathaway for dinner. His wife Naomi, who is pregnant (yay!), was sick but she told Chris it was okay for him to go with us (she's so cool). We went to a barbecue place that Russell loves; I wasn't really impressed but it was okay. When I related the above story to Chris, the straight Mormon Male that I love so much, he said, "That's just like people here at BYU. They have the appearance of being nice..."
Also, Chris related a conversation he had with his younger brother Skyler.
Skyler: Chris, does Jesse like guys?
Chris: Yes, he does.
Skyler: That's just gross. I don't understand that.
Chris: Well, why do you like girls?
Skyler: I was just born that way.
Chris: What if Jesse was born that way?
I don't remember what Skyler said in response to that, but I thought it was really cool of Chris to have a conversation about me with his brother. Chris is such a great guy.
