My Pet Peeve Sandwich
I slept in until 10am and awoke to a call from Shawn. He wanted to come over and use our computer, so I told him he could. He volunteers every Sunday to drive meals over to people dying of AIDS. I think it's really cool of him to volunteer his spare time to do that.
While he was over, I asked if he wanted some breakfast. He said yes and asked if he could open a box of honey nut cheerios. I said that sounded good and he went to get a box from our food storage.
Then he committed a pet peeve of mine.
When he opened bag inside the box, he ripped it open instead of only opening 2 inches for cereal to come through. Cheerios went everywhere, more specifically inside the box. I didn't get mad, but it really annoyed me.
Then I found out he committed another pet peeve of mine.
After we ate breakfast, I went to put away the box of cheerios, but I found that the box flaps wouldn't close. 'Argh!' I thought. It was because Shawn opened the box from the bottom instead of the top where the appropriate tabs are located.
But I survived.
I also did another interview with my grandmother. We talked about all her children today and I tried to have to say something to the camera that I could use for her funeral video, but she didn't take the bait. I'll have to try again later and have her give a more general message to everyone.
Tonight, I really didn't want to hang out with people. I've been in this kind of mood for awhile, and I'm not depressed or anything; I'm just finding that I prefer the alone time rather than being with people. Actually, tonight I just wanted to be with Brian, but Megan called and said Scott was in a sad mood and we should hang out with him. Since friends come before my selfish wants, Brian and I invited everyone over.
The evening was going well until it was time for Megan to tell Mckenna it was time to go home. It was late (9pm) and Megan wanted to put Mckenna to bed because she had school in the morning. Being a typical 6-year old, she started whining and did not want to leave. Scott mentioned something about getting ice-cream from the store, so I told him we should go to the store and get some. I really didn't want to go to the store, but I thought it would be easier for Megan to get Mckenna to agree to go home if everyone was leaving.
When Mckenna said she wanted to go to the store with us, Megan caved and told Mckenna she could go. I looked at Megan and said, "Sorry the plan failed. I tried."
Out of nowhere, Megan grabbed Mckenna by the hand and said, "Mckenna, we're leaving. It's obvious they don't want us around" and stormed out of the house. Shawn, Scott, Brian and I stood in my doorway in shock. We all looked at each other trying to figure out what had just happened. It was like watching a car wreck happen and not knowing what to do afterward.
Megan committed one of my pet peeves: storming out of a house without saying goodbye. The sad thing is, this wasn't the first time for her.
Basically, today was a pet-peeve sandwich.
