The Son and his gay boyfriend

Brian and I went to dinner with his father tonight in which he had "big news" for us. Brian knew his dad was going to announce a marriage and Brian was ready to be not-so supportive. I told Brian that marriage is one of those things that you should just be happy for the person, no matter what you think about it.

When his dad did announce it, Brian took my advice and was very supportive. Brian's sister, who was actually our server at the restaurant, wasn't so supportive. Doug noticed this and said, "I'm glad one of my children supports me." I was really glad Brian was very supportive to his dad.

I also thought it was incredibly nice of Doug to say that he wanted Brian and I at the wedding; it made me feel really included and part of Brian's family.

In another moment, Doug said, "So, what are the rules for you guys to adopt...well, um, if that's in your plan." I was really touched that this straight Mormon male wants to be a grandfather and slyly mentioned something about it.

I had a lot of fun tonight.

awww,

it was nice to hear about the flip side of your relationship, Brian and his family.

And I'm sorry about your dog. :(
