Conflict Resolved
Hard decisions don't take me a long time to figure out. Yesterday's conflict has been mostly resolved. Their are underlying concerns, but for the most part, I know what I want to do.
I live life in moments, and today, a moment affected me.
I was sitting in my globalization class when the professor asked us what we were going to do after graduation. The girl who was sitting in front of me said she has a job lined up as a lobbyist for the Realtor Association.
That was the moment.
Her name is Mary-Ann and she interned with Senator Ron Allen in 2004. I interned with Senator Ron Allen in 2003. She has a job involved with politics and I do not.
Mary-Ann looks and acts like a professional woman. I still look and act like a boy.
She's probably is comfortable and enjoys fancy receptions with important people. I'd rather be at a barbecue with friends.
During my internship with Senator Allen, I was disappointed in the lack of work he provided me. I spent my free time writing a song. At the Hinckley reception, I played around instead of paying attention. I don't like being serious for long periods of time. At work, I could never be a supervisor because people think I'm immature.
I don't ever think I'll be a man, only a boy who likes to have fun. Nobody, even my friends, take me seriously. That said, I can be mature and effective when I'm doing things that actually matter, like coordinating volunteers for Pride or organizing boxes for a food shelter. I know I would be good at coordinating people during emergencies.
So I've decided I'm going to work in emergency services. That's the only way I'll ever be taken seriously and gain respect.

Um, we DO take you seriously. We just like to tease you sometimes, like you tease us. Your outlook on life makes you who you are. And, we (well, I) wouldn't like you if you pretended to be someone you are not.
I have said this before and I don't say it just to boost your self-esteem (please, I'm not THAT nice!) but, I believe that you will be great at anything you do. You need to do whatever will make you the happiest. Honestly, I can't see you sitting in a stuffy law office doing technology law (BOR-ING!). Unless, you had a HOTT assistant who wore cute suits!
Also, stop comparing yourself to others. Ok, so you're not professional and "grown-up" but you are when you need to be--just like I am. I HATE stuffy receptions but I'll act "professional" when the need arises. You have seen me change in a millisecond from fun to serious. You do the same.
And, I realize this is way too long, sorry. But, at 22, you shouldn't know what you are going to do with the rest of your life. If you do, you're weird. Take your time. Try everything. Be happy. Don't do something just because you need a career or need to be professional. Do it for you.
Ok, that's all. But, I can't promise that I won't think of something else to say.
OH, and that song was the BEST!!!!!
