Behind Door #1
I skipped work today because Brian wanted to go house hunting. He brought along his parents and his grandma, so it became a family affair. Brian wanted to visit 4 houses.
House #1: Built in 1993, this house featured 3 bed/2 bath, hardwood floors, and an unfinished basement. It was really nice inside and Brian commented that it was his favorite. It reminded me of my parents first house in California on Coventry Circle. It had a nice backyard and a large garage. The only problem was that the house was on a major street and wouldn't be resellable to a family with children.
House #2: Oh. My. Gosh. This house was awful! The people were still living there so their smell was the second impression I got--my first impression was the "Little Mexico" neighborhood it was in. We were only in the house for about 45 seconds when Brian wanted to leave. As we were leaving, Brian saw dog poop on the floor. I don't know if it was included in the purchase price.
House #3: Built in 1982, this house had the most potential in becoming a beauty. It was really ugly and trashed inside, but I told Brian that he could definitely make this house nice.
House #4: It wasn't as nice as house #1, but it was still nice. It was a 3 bedroom/1 bath with a partially finished basement. It wasn't trashed like house #3 but still had potential for some improvements. I told Brian that since we're only going to be in the house for only two years, we should get a house that we could sell at a higher price.
After some discussion, we decided on House #4. We'll find out on Monday if the bid we made (it's a HUD home) is accepted.

Does it not strike you just slightly hypocritical for a gay half hispanic man to not want to live in "little Mexico"??? Just curious, did you not check the hispanic box to get into college?
You can't have it both ways.....
