Ciudad de Mexico!
Today was my first "excursion" experience in Mexico. Included in the program cost of studying abroad are trips every other weekend to various places in Mexico. We went to Mexico city to the "Plaza de la Constitucion" and visited the "Palacio Nacional" which had lots of Diego Rivera murals. We also visited the Metropolitan Cathedral. When we were in the Palacio Nacional, a lock-down occured because there was a large political protest ouside. I was mad because I didn't get to see or take pictures of any of it.

We walked to some small side streets of the city and were surrounded by people yelling, "Cinco! Cinco pesos!" for items (AKA junk) they were sellinjg. It was really cool to listen to. As we walked down the streed full of crap, all of a sudden we started hearing whistles. Immediatly, all the street vendors started to wrap up their blankets with junk on them and leave. We wated and saw the police coming and figured that the street vendors weren't legal. It was really cool to see a street that was previously crowded quickly clean up in about 45 seconds. Some people were slow, so some people who had cleaned quickly blocked the police from entering the streets. It was so awesome to watch.

We left that part of the city and went to a Anthropology museum. Austin went off with some other people to eat since I wanted to start exploring the museum. For the next hour and a half, I was alone and I loved it! Since coming to Mexico, I haven't been alone other than in the baƱo. I wanted to be by myself so I could explore the museum at my own pace and be able to rest my hemorid butt!
3 hours at the museum was way too much and I finished early. I was glad when we got on the bus to go home.
We spent the rest of the night at home studying. Mama, Austin, and I were doing a crossword puzzle in Spanish and Mama wanted to explain the word "scar" in Spanish. To do this, she lifted her pant leg, looked at her leg, and upon looking at her leg, said, "Aye Dios Mio!" and quickly covered it. She and I started laughing hysterically as Austin looked on with a puzzled face. She and I were laughing because she hadn't shaved her legs in a while and her legs had hair on them. She was embarrased but able to find humor in the situation.
