State Democratic Convention

Russell came over last night and went with me to the Democratic State convention at the Salt Palace. Ross wanted me to round up some volunteers to get people to help his campaign.

When I got there, Karen Hale wanted to meet with Ross and I to talk about his Senate 7 race (Karen Hale is the current Senator). We went into the large auditorium and started discussing the race. In the middle of our meeting, Marcie Smith-West approached us and said, "Can I borrow your campaign manager for minute?" She wanted me to help pick up some brochures that a candidate had put on all the seats in the auditorium.

I couldn't believe that she would ask me to help in the middle of a meeting. I think Marcie sees me as an errand boy. She never would have asked someone who ranks higher on the "importance" scale. I was slightly offended but got over it. I told her that I could help when I finished with the meeting. While I certainly could be described as an errand boy in the past, I'm trying to move away from that charaterization.

One of the things that I like least about politics is the fakeness that occurs. People say, "hello" to people that they despise over stupid reasons. If someone supported someone else's opponent in a past race, one or both of them might not like each other. People need to grow up and realize that we're all Democrats working for the same thing. The pettiness of some people makes me sick.

After the convention, Brian and I spent the day running around the valley and looking for a stainless steel stove. We finally found one that we really liked and Brian got the salesman to give us free shipping. I can't wait until we get it!

Oh no you didn't!

I know that this 4th paragraph is about me. Let me explain further what I meant. I didn't want you talking to a certain person because that person has, since I've been elected, done nothing but try to discredit me and Wayne. This person says very mean things about me in public and has used things I've said to people who are my friends against me. My proof is what happened later as I was talking to someone about who I was and was not supporting. This person went and told them.

Politics is fake but politics is also cutthroat and people like this do exist and use friends to hurt those they do not like.

I'm sorry if you don't believe me and think it's all a conspiracy I've made up. The only thing I've ever asked from our friendship is for your support and trust. I do that for you.

Oh Tyreseus,
I would hardly call Rocky Anderson a Democrat.

Meg,

I can see your point of view, but coming from a more liberal backround, I could hardly call most (or at least, many) elected Democrats in Utah a Democrat. Just my persepctive, though.
