Utah Blogger Conference
I went to the Utah Bloggers Conference tonight and I had a really great time. Although I had to leave early because Jennie left her key to our house in a friend's car, it was nice to eat some free pizza and see some "famous" bloggers... ahem....
While standing in line, Megan, Brian and I met Representative Craig Frank. He represents the Pleasent Grove area in Utah County. He's also a member of the Conservative Caucus, a group of about 30 legislators who I assume are fiscally and socially conservative.
I'm convinced that meeting legislators in non-official capacities is much better than when they are up at the Capitol. They probably don't worry so much about their image when they are out in regular interactions with the public than when they are "important people" at the capitol.
Rep. Frank was extremely nice and if I was a right-wing nutjob like him, he'd totally have my support. He was really funny and we had a good laugh about him being "crazy." It was very cool to be talking to a very conservative legislator and not feel weird around them. While I probably disagree with him on many issues, it didn't affect my opinion of him because I saw a person and not a Gayle Ruzika clone.

Oh, you know I have to say something on this one.
"...if I was a right-wing nutjob like him..." Um, who of our friends proudly proclaimes to be "Pro-God, Pro-Guns, & Pro-Life"?
"While I probably disagree with him on many issue..." Um, no. You don't.
Hehe. ;)
So this is how you BLOG, huh?!
Thanks for the free press. It was a thrill for me to see that the D's are human too. (I was quite taken back by your well-developed conversation skills and sophisticated humor during our conversation, lol.)
Jesse, I think with a little more work and some additional "conservative" meddling we (right-wing nutjobs) might just get you to cross-over the aisle.
Thanks for helping me warm-up to the whole BLOG thing.
Your years of journal writing are QUITE IMPRESSIVE and inspiring.
I was supprised to see that the conference was labeled as 'leaning left-wing'. Sheesh. Can't even let a Dem speak in UT.
